Robert Evans is the owner and, on most projects, sole practitioner of Robert Evans Murals, Inc. His work is represented in venues across the country such as the Smithsonian Museum of American History, The Estate at Mount Vernon, and numerous other regional museums of science and history, zoos and aquaria.
Mr. Evans graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Dartmouth College with a BA in the Visual Arts and English Literature. While at Dartmouth, he received the Ames, Reade and Marcus Heiman awards for achievement in Art and further refined his painting skills at the Arts Students League of New York.
Upon graduation, Mr. Evans received a scholarship to The Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, after which he worked as an assistant in the Department of Visual Studies and Artist-In Residence program at Dartmouth College. In 1981, Rob received a Reynolds Fellowship to study abroad, and spent one year at the Ruskin School of Fine Art, Oxford, England. He then lived in London for a couple of years, showing work at the Brixton Gallery of Art.
In 1990, after working as a scenic painter on sets for theatre,
opera, video and cinema for over five years for Scaena Studios
and Sammons Associates, he began his career as an independent
muralist and exhibit-painter. Eight years later, Mr. Evans founded
Robert Evans Murals, Inc., a company specializing in realistic,
depictive painting devoted to exhibits of Natural History, History
and Ethnography.
Mr. Evans currently resides in Sherborn, Massachusetts and works at his studio in South Natick.
